Chiff Gathering June 5, 2004 Well, I sure had a good time. Anyone who didn't sure faked it well. I screwed up and forgot to get a group photo. I hope I caught at least one shot of everyone who attended. Maybe not Norcal. His came out blurry. (He shows up with his wife, Renee, on BoneQuint's page, which I'll get linked after working out the snag) We had a nice sunny day with a mild (for this area) breeze. There were about 3 or 4 sessions going on in the kitchen within arm's reach of one another- whistle intensive, no less. A little more sanity outside (at times). As expected, the group, without exception, was great. The barbeque, I'll venture, was acceptable. (Sorry, Justine for dropping your patty into the fire.) I can't believe MurphyStout brought hot dogs to cook. He said it was because he hadn't had one in four years. I'll admit I've visited Sam's Hotdog House, down the road, once or twice in the past year. I'll get some tunes I recorded on minidisc on here asap. We got a big group playing Connaughtman's Rambles for Azalin, who couldn't attend. I'm reluctant to say who played what. I'll most likely leave
someone out. Email me for tune title corrections. Check back by this weekend
and I'll have some more up. There's some serious wind on microphone noise
here and there. Just think of it as authenticity. I'd have liked to hear
what Darwin and KC were up to. I didn't get to hear them play together.
(Connaughtman's Rambles will be in the next group of tunes.) From left to right: BoneQuint, Carmel Higgins (The Woman of the House), Kar, Bob, Karina. About a third or less of the whistles at the house are in view.
Jack (MurphyStout), Paul Higgins, Michah, Peggy Higgins (my Woman of the House)
Kar and Rae (Kar's friend)
Charlotte (friend of Stiofan) giving bowing lessons to Alden (Limuhead).
Justine on right and her friend, Rachel. (It turns out Rachel teaches at a school a few blocks from my house.)
Mike (Darwin) and KC Jiang
BoneQuint (Jeff) and Charlotte. Two sets of bones going. Make sure you give him elbow room.
Pure drop playing. Jack and Karina.
Lance/Weekender and Justine/Feadogin. In the background, Limuhead out of hand. Charlotte. At the end of the evening, Limu's wife had me throw him out so she could go home. He knew about it and laughed at us both.
TonyHiggins doing the manly chore. Fire, meat, grunt. At one point, me fumbling things, Dana Crom says, "Seeing as you're the host, I won't say anything." I thought he said plenty right there.
John Palmer playing O'Riordan low d. Stephen(Stiofan) formulating schemes to get the whistle.
Murph bad-mouthing Azalin, who's not there to defend himself. Karina.
Bob the piper. (I can't remember your screen-name)
Micah, Karina, John
Those bones were going all over the place. My mom's liability insurance doesn't cover that.
Limu, Kar, Charlotte. The Fiddlers Three.
Dana- DCrom, Stiofan- Stephen
John, Tony (I'll use this for my new avatar)
Weekender singing and frightening the poor child. Dana, his daughter, John (The mandolin player is John.) BoneQuint also posted some photos
